A victim with "potentially life-threatening injuries" is being air lifted from the scene of a three-vehicle crash on Chilliwack Central Road this morning.

There was no further information available from the Chilliwack RCMP about the victim or about others involved in the crash.

But according to emergency officials on the scene, a Mazda 3 was about to turn left when it was hit from behind by a Honda Civic, pushing it forward into the path of a westbound Dodge pickup truck.

The driver of the Honda Civic is being airlifted to the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster with "potentially life-threatening injuries."

More details will be released after RCMP accident investigators make a detailed analysis of the crash scene.

The section of Chilliwack Central where the crash occurred, between Gibson Road and Upper Prairie Road, is closed to traffic "for at least a couple of hours" during the investigation, police said.

Police are asking drivers to use alternate routes to allow emergency responders the space they need to work.
