Anyone who was hoping to cool off by swimming in the Chilliwack Rotary Outdoor Pool will be disappointed this summer.

“Unfortunately, due to staffing limitations, the Rotary Outdoor Pool will not be opening for the Summer 2020 Season,” announced pool officials on Facebook.

At this point facility operators, Recreation Excellence, are working with City of Chilliwack officials to determine the feasibility of safely opening an indoor pool for community use.

“Staff are working on being retrained under new COVID-19 lifeguarding guidelines and First Aid/CPR procedures before an opening date for an indoor pool can be confirmed,” the post from pool operators said.

Spray parks at the Chilliwack Landing and Cheam Leisure Centres are open daily 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

City officials made the difficult decision to temporarily close recreation facilities on March 16, 2020 until further notice to mitigate risks of virus transmission.
