Robbery suspect's house full of stolen stuff

Chilliwack RCMP were looking for a stolen construction trailer and snowplough attachment, but found a whole lot more.

When Chilliwack RCMP arrested a 38 year old man for one crime, they found more than they expected.

Police tracked down Khristopher Benson in connection with the Oct. 17 theft of a construction trailer and snow plough attachment from a compound in the 45000-block of Petawawa Road. Benson was traced to a home in the 4300 block of Estate Drive in Chilliwack. Around 11 a.m. on Nov. 10, police from Chilliwack and Hope, joined by ICBC investigators, arrived with a search warrant and he was arrested.

Cell phones, wallets, laptop computers, vehicle insurance papers, license plates, and ammunition were seized by officers during the execution of the search warrant,” said Corporal Adam Tallboy from Chilliwack RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.

Benson faces four charges of possession of stolen property, one charge of possession of ammunition while prohibited to do so and two charges of trafficking stolen property.

He remains in custody pending a court appearance in early December.

Protecting our community from property crime is a priority of the RCMP throughout our region,” said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail. “The RCMP deploys a variety of resources who, working as a team, remain watchful for criminal activity which leads to solving, as well as, crime reduction, within the Fraser Valley.”
