RCMP raid seven addresses in Chilliwack during large drug bust

Police say drugs originating in Chilliwack ended up in Kamloops and other parts of BC

RCMP seized drugs and a firearm during a series of raids in Chilliwack, putting a major dent in an alleged drug trafficking operation.

The investigation that would eventually lead to the bust began in May, when police targeted a person suspected of supplying bulk quantities of illegal drugs to traffickers operating in Chilliwack and other parts of the province. The Chilliwack Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrant at Chilliwack address in May, and identified additional drug suppliers and members of the alleged drug trafficking organization.

On Sept. 22, RCMP arrested a man in Kamloops who was allegedly in possession of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine. Investigators believe those drugs originated from the drug trafficking organization in Chilliwack.

Five days later, the CRU, supported by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), executed search warrants on seven addresses and two storage lockers in Chilliwack.

Police seized drugs believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with a firearm and paraphernalia consistent with the trafficking of drugs. Officers also seized numerous vehicles.

Four people were arrested during the searches. They were later released, pending further investigation.

“This multi-jurisdictional investigation led to the disruption of the flow of a significant quantity of illicit drugs between our communities,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Rail said.

Evidence will be forwarded to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) for possible CDSA charges.

Meanwhile, RCMP remind anyone who sees anything suspicious to call their local police agency or dial Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
