Chilliwack firefighters were able to contain a two-storey townhouse fire on Russell Road in Promontory Thursday morning.
Flames were showing through the roof when crews arrived at the scene, located just off Teskey Road.
The call came in at around 9:45 a.m. Once firefighters were on scene it was quickly upgraded to a second alarm, bringing resources from additional Chilliwack firehalls.
In addition to the flames, firefighters also had to contend with gusting arctic outflow winds and freezing temperatures.
By 10:30 firefighters had successfully knocked down the fire, with no indication the fire had extended to other buildings in the complex.
There have been no reports of injuries. A neighbour in the area has already started a GoFundMe account for the family, which has started to receive donations. The account is called Fire in Timber Ridge and was created by Tanya Doerksen with an initial goal of raising $5,000.
