Steel girders are going up at the Chilliwack site of the new Molson Coors Fraser Valley brewery.
Construction on the brewery and distribution centre is underway, with large-scale brewing equipment to be moved on-site by mid-2018.
“Everything is on schedule with the build and all timelines are on track,” said Josh Stewart, spokesperson for Molson Coors Canada in Western Canada.
Construction will continue into the fall of 2018.

“In the next few months you will start to see the building really take shape as the structural walls will be raised and the shell of the brewery will be formed,” said Stewart.
“Our next exciting hurdle will be in the spring when we expect to have the brewing tanks brought in from overseas,” said Stewart. “This is going to be quite the feat as they are massive pre-fabricated tanks shipped in to Vancouver.”
Company engineers are working to map out the best transportation route from Vancouver to Chilliwack.
“We expect it to be quite the spectacle when these massive tanks are moved onto the site,” he noted.
The plan is still to have the brewery producing beer by early 2019 with a grand opening when the snow melts that spring/summer.

The $200+ million investment in the modern, sustainable brewery is expected to create more than 1,000 jobs during the construction phase, and 100 jobs once the brewery is fully commissioned.
