Fundraiser golf tournament raises $74,000 for Fraser Valley hospitals

Chilliwack General Hospital will benefit from a tourney at held at the Sandpiper Golf Resort

Four Fraser Valley Hospitals will share in the $74,000 raised at this year’s Golfing Fore Your Hospitals tournament.

The Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation (FVHCF) hosted the fifth annual tourney Sept. 10 at the Sandpiper Golf Course in Harrison Mills. One hundred and eighty two golfers teed off under sunny skies, chipping in to help Chilliwack General Hospital, Abbotsford Regional Hospital, Mission Memorial Hospital and Fraser Canyon (Hope) Hospital.

“It was amazing to see so many people still willing to come together to support this event despite these uncertain times we are in,” said FVHCF executive director Liz Harris. “We are blown away by their generosity and willingness to follow safety measures so this event could still happen. We can’t thank the golfers, sponsors, volunteers and donors enough and we are looking forward to next year.”

As golfers made their way around the picturesque golf course, they were joined by Chilliwack’s Trevor McDonald, who cruised around in a cart taking pictures and videos. A ‘beat the pro’ contest saw locals trying their luck against PGA pro Daniel Swanson.
