As of 11:30 a.m. Friday morning, the Bernard and St. Mary's elementary schools were no longer locked down.

Starting around 11 a.m. students were hustled inside and doors were locked as RCMP searched for a suspect.

An officer-in-distress call had all units converging on the Bernard Avenue area in search of a man, approximately six feet tall, bald with tattoos on his shins and writing on his left arm.

Officers zeroed in on the St. Mary's church store, believing the suspect was inside.

A search of the store turned up nothing, and police set up a perimeter. As it became apparent that the suspect had slipped away, RCMP lifted the lockout order.

The suspect did leave a bicycle and trailer on nearby Labelle Avenue, and police took those away.

A suspect was later taken into custody near Yale Road and Hocking.
