Eastern Fraser Valley communities mourning three men killed in crash

RCMP are looking for any witnesses to the early morning crash off Highway 1 into the weigh scale building

Families and friends from Hope and Chilliwack areas are devastated.

An event for members of the local hockey community is set for Tuesday night in Chilliwack to celebrate the lives of three young men killed in a car crash near Hope Friday morning.

The victims have been identified as: 20-year-old Brad Webb of Hope; Devan King-Peters, 19, of Chilliwack; and, Philip Morgan Peters Jr., 18, of Hope.

An online memorial page for the three cousins is where family and friends from the across the valley are posting memories and good wishes.

Organizers are hope to secure hockey jerseys of Morgan Peters so they can be signed by young hockey players in the community and framed. A slide show in remembrance of all three, and some ice time for players will start after 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

It was a terrible early morning car crash at about 4 a.m. on March 13.

The westbound vehicle the young men were travelling in left the highway and slammed into the Hunter Creek Weigh Scale building, west of Hope, killing all three.

A passing truck driver spotted the smashed car up against the building and called police.

Hope RCMP with Hope Fire Department and BC Ambulance personnel arrived on scene where the three men were found deceased in the wreckage.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the pre-dawn crash to contact RCMP Const. Clark at Fraser Valley Traffic Services 604-702-4039.

The cause has yet to be determined, but an investigation by RCMP’s Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Section, Fraser Valley Traffic Services and the BC Coroner’s Service is ongoing.

“They were inseparable from young mischievous boys up to plotting and vowing pacts with spit handshakes,” writes a family member on the crowdfunding page. “I’m just asking for any financial support small or what have you to help the families make it through the tragic loss a bit easier for any unforeseen expenses that are sure to come.

“This is a huge shock for this entire family. These are all the best people I have ever known and call my family.”

An account is set up to help the families with expenses at www.gofundme.com/ovxyg4
