RCMP were called to investigate a vehicle crash into a median in the middle of Spadina Avenue on the evening of June 15.

Officers dispatched to the scene in the 45000-block noted signs of impairment in the 28-year-old Chilliwack man, who was allegedly driving the Chrysler 300 that crashed into a median tree.

Police detained and later released the man from custody.

Following a thorough investigation and review of the evidence, RCMP will forward a report to the BC Prosecution Service for assessment of impaired driving charges.

“If you consume alcohol or cannabis, leave your vehicle parked and arrange for a safe ride,” said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail, spokesperson for the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment. “RCMP are committed to removing impaired drivers from our roadways.”

Tips to plan a safe trip:

• Arrange a designated-driver with family and friends;

• Plan ahead to travel by public transit or taxi;

• Stay overnight.

Chilliwack RCMP is urging anyone who witnesses dangerous driving behaviour to contact police at 604-792-4611 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
