One man was injured in a house fire on Williams Street in Chilliwack late Friday.

One man was injured in a house fire on Williams Street in Chilliwack late Friday.

Two others at home when the fire erupted at about 7 p.m. escaped injured.

However, a family pet perished in the fire, and the contents of the single-storey home in the 9200-block of Williams Street were fully consumed.

Temporary accommodation is being provided to the family by Emergency Social Services.

The cause of the fire is unknown, and is under investigation by police and fire officials.

Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Ullyot said fire crews arrived on the scene to find the bungalow-style home engulfed in flames, but managed to contain the fire before it spread to a detached two-car garage.

The injured man had "minor burns" to his feet and his right arm, and was taken to Chilliwack General Hospital for treatment, Ullyot said.

There were no firefighter injuries.
