Mark Strahl, Member of Parliament for Chilliwack-Hope, provided an update from Parliament Hill this week regarding resources for those affected by the B.C. Storm, to help them to rebuild and recover.

“It has been one month since the B.C. Storm crisis impacted our community,” he said. “I wanted to check in to ensure that you are taking care of yourselves and each other, with the help of resources available to you.”

He sent out a list of resources and links for people affected by flooding in various ways, including Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA), which is available for eligible British Columbians who were affected by flooding and landslides from Nov. 14 to Dec. 2, 2021. Apply for DFA online here: www.gov.bc.ca/disasterfinancialassistance

“Natural disasters can take a toll on mental health, especially those that were directly impacted or helped those that were directly impacted,” Strahl added. “If you find that you are struggling or need someone to talk to, please reach out and use these mental health supports to help you get through this difficult time.”
