BREAKING: Ambitious plans announced for downtown Chilliwack

Plan will transform city’s downtown and set benchmark for future development

An ambitious downtown redevelopment plan – more than 10 years in making – was unveiled in Chilliwack Monday.

Chilliwack Mayor Sharon Gaetz, her voice breaking with emotion, announced the awarding of a contract that will transform 3.75 acres of prime downtown land.

Algra Bros. Development Ltd., one of the key builders at Garrison Crossing, expects to begin work this spring.

The new and innovative redevelopment proposed by Algra Bros. aims to transform the downtown into a healthy, sustainable and thriving community that will set a benchmark for all subsequent development downtown, according to a joint press release issued by the City and Chilliwack Economic Partners.
