Chilliwack Crusaders off to Burnaby for B.C. Rugby Division 3 final

The Crusaders are looking for their first championship title since 2008

The Chilliwack Crusaders are off to Burnaby.

Following their quarter-final win last week, the Crusaders made their second straight appearance in the Men’s Division 3 semi-final on Saturday (April 27).

The Crusaders hosted the Axemen Rugby Club out of Squamish, and cruised their way to a 25-5 victory at a rainy Yarrow Sports Field. The win solidifies the squad’s spot in next week’s B.C. Rugby Senior Men’s Club Final.

Chilliwack’s Colton Derouin and Andy Fourie secured their second tries in as many weeks, with Leki Palaiti scoring the team’s only other. Palaiti also secured some insurance with his leg, converting two of the three tries, as well as two penalty kicks for the Crusaders.

The team will play the Comox Valley Kickers – the club that eliminated them in last year’s semi-final – in hopes of securing their first championship victory since 2008.

The B.C. Senior Club Finals take place this upcoming Saturday, May 4, at the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club at 3760 Sperling Avenue. The Crusaders will take the field at 11:30 a.m. for their final.

On top of the Division 3 final, the event will feature seven other provincial finals including both the Men’s and Women’s Premier League finals. Tickets can be purchased on the website at bcrugby.com.
