UPDATE:
By 3:50 p.m., the man had been rescued from the sandbar on the Chilliwack River and was being tended to by paramedics.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Emergency crews were called to help rescue a man stranded on a sandbar in the Chilliwack River on Thursday.
The incident happened around 2 p.m. on March 28, where the Chilliwack River Valley Fire Department was called to an area of the river near Tamihi Creek Campground.
The man was reportedly out of the water, but stuck in the middle of the river.
After arriving on scene, fire crews reported that they were going to use Tamihi Liumchen Forest Service Road on the south side of the river to try and rescue the man, who was about three kilometres from where the forest service road meets Chilliwack Lake Road.
Chilliwack Search and Rescue arrived on scene shortly after 3 p.m.
