The Paramount units are going to be pet friendly.

“After seeing how many potential residents are pet owners, and after many discussions and preparation, Paramount is now allowing residents to keep pets!” according to a post by Chilliwack Community Services about the new housing on Yale Road in downtown Chilliwack.

Up to two cats, or one dog under 80 pounds, can live with their people in the new affordable housing facility, with units available for 58 seniors and eight young adults.

Pet-owning residents of the Paramount will be subject to a deposit, registration, expected to follow certain rules.

Several commenters praised the animal-friendly decision by Chilliwack Community Services, which was announced this week.

“Amazing decision! Pets bring so much joy and companionship to a person’s life. Good move,” said Erin Newlove Nicholas.

Lana Lynn reacted with: “This is so wonderful to hear! For many seniors their pets play an important role in their lives Finding housing with a pet can often be a challenge.”

Anyone with questions can contact housing@comserv.bc.ca or 604-702-2900
