Prospera Credit Union is permanently closing its downtown Chilliwack branch on Wellington Avenue.

The Chilliwack branch will be merging with the Sardis branch after a routine “branch footprint” review was conducted, confirmed Cary Ransome, chief member experience officer for Prospera.

“As of April 30, 2024, the Chilliwack branch will be consolidated with our Sardis branch location,” Ransome said in an emailed response to questions about an imminent closure.

The Sardis Branch of Prospera Credit Union is at 7565 Vedder Road about 10 or 15 minutes away from the longstanding branch at Wellington and Mary Street in downtown Chilliwack.

“This decision was made as part of our routine review of our branch footprint and in careful consideration of our members’ banking habits, behaviours and needs,” the statement said.

“Prospera cares about our employees and will limit the impact to our team wherever possible due to this change.

“We’re still working with our employees on the staffing transition but expect most employees will relocate to the Sardis branch, other than one employee who may relocate to another nearby Prospera location.

“You can expect to see many familiar faces at the Sardis branch and we’re committed to supporting our members through this transition, every step of the way,” Ransome said.
