It’s possible that someone in Chilliwack knows something.

Eva Pucci Couture of Edmonton has never given up hope of finding out what happened to her 25-year-old son Kristofer Couture who went missing five years ago.

She’ll be at the Sardis Safeway Friday in Chilliwack, giving back, and talking about the disappearance.

“January 26 will be 5 years since Kris went missing, hard to believe really,” Pucci Couture wrote in a Jan. 19 post on the Facebook group, Missing: Kristofer (Kris) Couture.

Her son’s Saturn with Alberta plates was found parked at the trailhead on Elk Mountain in Jan. 27, 2019, but not a shred of evidence of what happened to him has turned up since then. The car was found by an off-duty RCMP officer, with the rear window smashed out.

There were many search efforts undertaken for Kris in the months after it was reported, and a $10,000 reward was offered as incentive.

Kris had reported to his roofing job workplace in Maple Ridge on Jan. 25, and had exercised at a gym in Burnaby on that same day. He was last seen leaving the Royal Columbian in New Westminster the next day.

Pucci Couture has described her son’s absence as being painful akin to missing a “piece” of herself.

“I want to give back to the community who helped our family so much and bring awareness that Kris is still missing so I will be in Chilliwack next week to we will be handing out flyers and collecting donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

“I would love to see you again or meet you in person if I haven’t already.

“We won’t give up hope that we will find answers to Kristofer’s disappearance.”

She’ll be at outside be Sardis Safeway on Jan. 26, on Luckakuck Way, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. with Search and Rescue, and RCMP. They will also graciously accept food donations from the public to donate in Kris’s name.
