Seabird Island (Sq’éwqel) officials delivered on update on the train diesel spill in the community on Friday, March 1.

In a release dated March 6, officials stated that efforts continue to determine if any diesel migrated away from the spill site near Lophet Road and the Maria Slough. Workers have put in temporary wells along the train tracks and collected water samples from the 14 homes currently under a water advisory.

Water delivery to the affected homes is ongoing and will continue for as long as the advisory is in effect.
