Calgary raised, Vancouver Island based singer-songwriter William Mimnaugh (aka WiL) is on tour throughout western Canada promoting his new six-song EP, Songs, and will be in Chilliwack on Sept. 24.

Known across Canada for his incredible guitar-string-breaking live performances, WiL is a performer that keeps getting better with age. Now 45, WiL felt the time was right to take on the task of recording an album all by himself. The result is a six song EP, free of inhibition and genre restriction; a standalone collection of music simply titled Songs.

"As with my last album El Paseo, a few of these songs were actually born from commercial ideas worked on under extremely tight deadlines, a process that I have surprisingly found works extremely well for me," WiL explains.

"‘Tonight’, for example, was born over a few hours with guidance from Alec Harrison for a feature film called Night Pond. And ‘Our Song’ was a commercial demo developed with my mentor Dan McManus (from 6 Degrees Music) who possesses an uncanny ability for helping me discern and discover what best serves the song."

He performs Saturday, Sept. 24 at Tractorgrease Cafe (48710 Chilliwack Lake Rd.) at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and available at 604-858-3814 or by email at tractorgrease@gmail.com.
