The launch of a book documenting the history of a studio, cafe and band is coming to a Chilliwack brewery.

“What is Tractorgrease? I get asked all the time. I wrote this book to explain and revisit so many memorable moments,” said Tractorgrease founder Jeff Bonner.

He’s touring from Oct. 22 to Nov. 5 to promote his new book Tractorgrease: Great Creators, and will be in Chilliwack on Nov. 2 at Flashback Brewing. ‘Tractorgrease’ is an anagram for ‘great creators.’

The book is about music and, includes stories, history, photos, and songs. It was written to celebrate the 20-plus years of Tractorgrease which was a Chilliwack-based cafe, music venue, studio, band, video producer and more. The physical venue was located on Chilliwack Lake Road for years and shut down in 2021 as a result of the pandemic.

Now Bonner lives in Silverton, B.C. and Tractorgrease is a music business that does audio/video recording, live production and performance.

“The journey has twisted and turned as Tractorgrease evolved into the music venture it is today. I thought I had everything figured out as I grew the business at the Chilliwack Lake Road location, however the universe had a different idea,” Bonner wrote in the book.

He’s now inviting folks “take a ride” with him as his musical journey continues.

On Nov. 2, he’ll be at Flashback Brewing promoting his new book during his Songwriters Unite B.C. tour along with Jay Gavin and Boots Graham. They are known as the Biker (Gavin), the Cowboy (Graham) and the Hippie (Bonner) and together they will share stories and songs onstage.

A special beer is being launched that night – a dark Bavarian lager called Tractorgrease.

The Tractorgrease: Great Creators book launch and Songwriters Unite B.C. tour is Thursday, Nov. 2 at Flashback Brewing. Tickets $20 at the door. Call 604-391-1000 for reservations.
