Many of Chilliwack's talented musicians are competing in the national CBC Music Searchlight 2016.
After receiving more than 2,000 applicants from across Canada, the contestant profiles are available for voting to help narrow down the winner, who will receive $50,000 in prizing, as well as national media exposure.
To determine regional semi-finalists, the public is invited to watch, share and vote for their favourites online until April 20 at 11:59 a.m. PST.
Ten finalists from each region will move on to the next round. Public voting will be crucial in each forthcoming round of the competition. Regional finals open April 25 and close April 29. The national round opens May 3 and closes May 9. The top four finals will compete mid-may to determine the winner.
Contestants who have roots in Chilliwack include Todd Richard, Andrew Christopher, Kyla Ferrier, Jason + Anna, Daven Atma, The Mudsharks 3, Lakeisha Hewitt, Kat, R.A. Bryant. and Andrew Fraser.
