B.C. artists who want to exhibit their work globally are getting a financial boost from the provincial government. The Government of British Columbia has increased its International Presence Program funding by $100,000, bringing the total to $350,000.
“We want to share B.C.’s amazing artistic talent with the world and attract top industry executives to our province,” said Lisa Beare, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
“The International Presence Program gives us that opportunity, enabling B.C. artists to step onto the world stage and make important connections with industry representatives who can help them succeed,” Beare continued.
To facilitate the program’s goal of heightening the global appreciation of British Columbia’s arts, culture, creativity, and innovation, local artists are provided funding to develop relationships with international counterparts. Funds for the International Presence Program are administered through the Arts Legacy Fund, which aligns with provincial tourism and trade goals.
In past years, the International Presence Program has supported international exposure for over 70 B.C. artists and art organizations, brought more than 60 international curators to the province, and sent representatives to 15 industry trade shows abroad.
The International Presence Program is part of a bigger effort on behalf of the Government of B.C., which is investing more than $60 million in arts and culture. Applications for Program grants will be accepted until Mar. 5, at 12:00 p.m.
