Chilliwack's Visual Artists Association presents their next show 'Goddess' at the O'Connor Group Gallery from April 1 to May 7.

This solo exhibition features the work of artist George Rychter.

Rychter has been heavily involved in visual arts since high school in the 70s.

It was his instructors at Chilliwack Senior Secondary who inspired him to apply to art school in England, where he went on to achieve his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Brighton Polytechnic in 1977. He then achieved his Master's at the University of Regina in 1979.

Goddess is an exotic visual journey reflecting 30 years of passion and work.

On display will be upwards of 25 sculptures in such mediums as steel, wood, stone, clay, resin and combinations. The walls will be filled with 50 drawings in graphite and pen and ink.

These richly varied artistic creations are bracketed into five series, from the sublime ecstasy of the Moon Goddess and Siren series, into the darker world of the Soliloquy, Tusks and Grail series.

Goddess runs April 1 to May 7 at the O'Connor Group Art Gallery at the Cultural Centre (9201 Corbould St.) The opening reception is April 2 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The gallery is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
