The Chilliwack Fire Department is once again taking to Twitter to remind people to have a safe and happy holiday season.
Last year, they started an online social media campaign with local dignitaries and celebrities dropping in to sit by their Christmas tree and share Christmastime safety tips. This year’s kicked off with Fire Chief Ian Josephson, reminding everyone to “make sure you’re using the correct Christmas lights for indoor and outdoor use, and to read and follow all manufacturers’ recommendations.”

They will continue posting fire safety tips throughout the month, for a total of 24 tips leading up to Christmas Day. So far, some of the guests at the hall have included gardener Brian Minter, who reminded people to water their live trees every day, and Don Armstrong from the Salvation Army who reminded everyone to make sure their trees are at least three feet away from heat sources.
Harold Zinke from the Downtown Chilliwack BIA, took the opportunity to remind everyone not to drink and drive this season.
