Soroptimist International of Chilliwack recently announced with pleasure and pride the winners of their Live Your Dream Award.
“We were fortunate to provide four education awards for a total of $6,000,” according to Lori Jackson, the Live Your Dream chair for the local club.
The organization focused on improving the lives of women and children, honoured the top two winners, Jaylene Blaine and Andrianna Peters at their February virtual meeting.
“We are so inspired by these strong young women and truly believe they will be a positive impact in our community, with their passion, energy and drive to make a difference,” Jackson said.
The Live Your Dream award gives women, who are the primary source of financial support in their households, the resources to improve their education, skills and employment prospects. The winner can then vie for a Western Canada region award and even a North-American-wide award.
“We were all moved by their stories and applaud them for their courageous efforts to succeed in reaching their goals and dreams,” Jackson said.
Soroptimist is a global organization that strives to support, encourage and raise funds towards education and skills to improve the lives of women and their children through economic empowerment. Soroptimist International of Chilliwack celebrated 85 years last October 2020.
