A handful of private gardens were open to the public this weekend as part of the 17th annual Rotary Garden Tour in Chilliwack.
The eight home gardens featured herbs and vegetables, low-maintenance green spaces, fish ponds, water falls and more.
At the home of Kim and Jeremy Jackson, their “Under the Tuscan Sun” garden located along the Vedder River was constantly busy with guests on Saturday.
Their edible Mediterranean garden focuses on indoor and outdoor living. Kim got her ideas on how to create their garden from years of travelling and dining al fresco.
“It’s as edible and scented as possible,” adds Kim.
The Jacksons cook and eat outside nearly every day using their outdoor brick oven. In the winter, their greenhouse which has electricity and a small heater, is turned into a small dining space.
“Gardens are meant to be lived in,” she says. “That’s what gardens are for — they’re for sharing, they’re for living.”
