Nietzsche, The Book Man cat, is famous again – this time in pin form.
The local book store just rolled out its annual fundraiser for Ena’s Community Cats, but instead of their typical cat calendar, this year they’re selling pins.
“This was something that has been floating around in the back of my mind for a couple of years,” said Amber Price, co-owner of The Book Man.
The one-inch pins feature the store’s beloved ginger cat, Nietzsche, sitting on an open book. The illustration, which was originally printed on book bags over the past few years, was done by artist Kaila Engar.
All proceeds go to Ena’s Community Cats, a non-profit organization run by Ena Vermerris, that offers low-cost medical treatment for underprivileged cats and dogs in Chilliwack.
“If we sell them all we’ll raise over $1,000 for Ena which will go a long way for providing medical care [for cats] and spay and neuter packages for low-income people in our community,” Price said.
Over the eight or nine years they’ve worked with Vermerris, they’ve raised more than $25,000 for Ena’s Community Cats.
The Nietzsche pins are $7.95 each and available at The Book Man at 45939 Wellington Ave.
