Chilliwack was hopping with fun on Saturday as folks took in a handful of outdoor Easter events around town.
Thousands took part in two different events on April 3 hosted by Southside Church. The egg hunts were for both kids and adults and were widespread throughout the city in various parks.
For kids aged 11 and younger, there was Prizes in the Park – an egg-hunt event which took place at six parks in Sardis with activities, goodies and prize draws at each location.
Late on Good Friday (April 2) people from Southside Church snuck out and hid 10 shiny Easter eggs for its Join The Hunt event on April 3. The city-wide egg hunt saw thousands of older kids and adults searching for the eggs. Within the first hour, eight of the golden easter eggs had been found, said Breanna Murphy with Southside Church.
There was $5,000 in prizes to be won in Join The Hunt.
Over at the Chilliwack Corn Maze and Pumpkin Farm, the site was turned into a drive-thru experience with Easter on the Farm. People cruised through the farm and were handed treats and toys as they waved at the Easter bunny and snapped photos of farm animals from their vehicles.
One local baker set up a pop-up cookie shop outside her home on Fairfield Drive that day as well.
Amy Tsang, who owns cookie business Sprinkles With Love, sold her home-baked and hand-decorated Easter treats from her front stoop as her resident baby bunnies, Hazel and Olivia, hopped around in an outdoor enclosure on the front lawn and munched grass.
