The Optimist Club of Chilliwack is once again inviting folks to play poker while cruising around town as part of an upcoming fundraiser.

“You don’t need an antique car to participate. It’s just a fun-filled day with something for everyone,” said event coordinator Glenda Standeven. “People get to visit six local businesses that are a little off the beaten path.”

Folks will be driving around to the six businesses where they will collect cards to build their best poker hand. They get a card at each location they go to.

People will have to pre-register for the event and there is a maximum of 50 vehicles allowed to participate. The cost is $50 per poker sheet score card. People have the option of buying extra poker sheets for $25 each.

Once folks pre-register, they check in on the day of the event at 11 a.m. at the Chilliwack Landing Sports Centre parking lot (45530 Spadina Ave.). Then they’re off to the six stops. The winning poker hand wins $250 but every registration will receive a goody bag with a door prize.

There’s also a silent auction.

“Many local businesses have also donated items for door prizes and for the silent auction table. We are always overwhelmed by the community support we receive,” Standeven said.

For more information or to register for the Car Rally Poker Run, email optimistclubofchwk@gmail.com with “Car Rally” in the subject line.

All monies raised stay in the community to help local children in need.
