Gardens will soon look even more spectacular after people take in a hugely popular plant sale in Chilliwack in June.

The 25th annual Gwynne Vaughan Park Plant Sale and Garden Party is set for Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On May 27, volunteers will be busy cleaning up the site for the big day.

“The park is looking amazing,” said Lynne Goodwin, Gwynne Vaughan Park Society board member. “The plant sale is such a well loved and well attended event and there’s really nothing like it.”

All proceeds from the plant sale go toward the upkeep, maintenance and development of the park and heritage house, and there will be more booths than ever on June 3 to help bring in money.

“This year we have 30 booths – the most ever, and food trucks and food booths. Shawarma Time is there, Tin Cow, and the Bannock Stand.”

There will be 14 plant booths and 16 artisan booths at the sale, plus a silent auction, a ‘plant-sitting’ booth, and the Gwynne Vaughan membership/info booth.

Items at the artisan vendors range from concrete animals to bark carvings, bird houses to seed journals, and decorated plant pots to jewelry made from pressed flowers.

Last year, it poured rain the day before and the day after the sale.

“But the day of the sale was beautiful… so we felt pretty darn lucky,” Goodwin said.

So far, the weather forecast for the days leading up to this year’s sale are a mix of sun and cloud with an average high of 23 degrees.

The 25th annual Gwynne Vaughan Park Plant Sale and Garden Party is Saturday, June 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 46181 Hope River Rd. The main entrance is on Williams Road and the gates open at 8:45 a.m. with parking in the field.

Overflow parking is available at Strathcona Elementary, and the Chilliwack Fraser Rotary Club Train is providing a shuttle service between the school and the park. Turnaround time is typically around 10 to 15 minutes.

A map with all vendor locations will be posted on the main bulletin board at the gate, and people are asked to bring their own bags and boxes to the sale.
