Golf tournament to support Chilliwack food bank

The Chilliwack Chiefs and Chilliwack Salvation Army are holding a golf tournament on Sept. 27 to raise funds for the local food bank.

The Chilliwack Chiefs and Chilliwack Salvation Army have joined forces for a fundraising golf tournament filled with fun, prizes, and surprises.

The inaugural tournament, being held on Sept. 27, is a fundraiser for the Salvation Army to purchase a much-needed transport truck for its food bank program.

With a few twists added to the mix, this Texas-scramble style tournament isn't going to be your typical golfing affair.

Instead of ending the tournament with a full steak dinner as is the norm, this one will be starting with the steak dinner. And if that's not enough, there will also be several more food stations along the course.

There's also going to be a variety of games, four hole-in-one prizes, and a super prize awarded to the golfer closest to the pin on the No. 9 Chiefs' Hole.

And the full Chilliwack Chiefs team – including head coach Harvey Smyl – and other special guests will be spread out over the 18 holes.

The event is being held on Sept. 27 at Chilliwack Golf and Country Club. Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

Registration is $150.
