People have been encouraged to shop local during the COVID-19 pandemic and next weekend there will be even more perks when doing just that.

Chilliwack Walk & Shop, presented by the Chilliwack Economic Recovery Network (CERN), is an opportunity to support local businesses that are offering incentives to customers.

From Thursday, Aug. 20 to Sunday, Aug. 23, businesses all over Chilliwack will be hosting sidewalk sales, in-store promotions, happy hours and other activities. The intention is to promote shopping local and supporting many Chilliwack businesses who have had a challenging 2020.

The CERN is a collaboration between Chilliwack Economic Partners Corporation, Community Futures South Fraser, Stó:lō Community Futures, Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Chilliwack, City of Chilliwack, and Downtown Chilliwack Business Improvement Association.

Back in May, the CERN launched its “Support Local Chilliwack” campaign where folks can buy virtual gift certificates from local businesses with a goal of using them at a later date. The campaign is still in effect.
