The Chilliwack and District Seniors’ Resources Society is offering a program to help low-income people with their income taxes.
Trained folks with the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program will complete and electronically file income tax and benefit returns for low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities with a single income of $35,000 or less, or couple income of $45,000 or less.
People are asked to bring all tax slips, donation receipts, medical/dental receipts and foreign income documentation if applicable. Those who have more than 12 prescription receipts need to obtain a list from their pharmacy.
Taxes are done by appointment only at Cottonwood Mall (604-799-9020) and Evergreen Hall (604-793-9979) from Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The program runs from March 1 to April 22.
There is no charge for this service, however donations are being accepted. For more, email info@cdsrs.ca.
