The Chilliwack Hospice Society is planning another children’s grief support group.
The group begings Oct. 20 and runs every Friday for eight weeks, ending Dec. 8. It’s open to children ages four through 13 who have experienced the loss of a family member or friend through death, or who currently have a friend or family member dying.
It’s an after school program, running from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., in the society’s new building at 7112 Vedder Road. The benefits of a children’s grief support group are many, including learning healthy ways to express feelings, learning new coping skills, receiving support from peers and facilitators, and making new friends.
The program includes activities like mask painting, making memory lanterns, feelings tornadoes, and more. The Chilliwack Hospice Society delivers programming for residents of Chilliwack, Agassiz and Harrison Hot Springs.
