There are treasures hidden around Chilliwack.

Jordyn MacDonald and her partner Curtis Good of Mystic Visions have hidden 25 treasure boxes around town with crystals and other goodies tucked inside them in hopes that people will find them.

“Our goal is to bring happiness to the community,” MacDonald said. “With COVID being such a downer we decided to bring a little magic to everybody.”

They’ve hidden the small boxes that fit in the size of one’s hand all around Chilliwack, from the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve to Island 22 and everywhere in between.

They’re atop rocks and tree stumps, nestled in forests and throughout the downtown core.

Inside each box are about four small crystals, an inspirational sticker, a handmade wax sealing stamp and an info card.

When people locate a treasure box, MacDonald wants people keep everything that’s inside and is asking folks to return the treasure boxes so they can refill them and place them outside again for someone else to find.

“If you find a second box, please leave it and let someone else experience the magic of finding it.”

The crystals can be used for healing purposes or just to look at “because they’re pretty,” MacDonald said.

The boxes were hidden on March 15, and four have been found so far.

When people return the boxes, they will get a $5 voucher for Mystic Visions. The home-based store started up a year ago, at the beginning of the pandemic, where they offer a space for healing and educate people about rocks and minerals.

This little treasure hunt is their way of celebrating their one-year anniversary all while encouraging people to get outside, make memories and “bring the community together on a COVID-safe level,” MacDonald said.
