Chilliwack Adopt-A-Senior program is preparing for another season of spreading joy.
Organizers sent out a message recently to say it will be “bigger and better” than the first run.
The effort that saw more than 600 Chilliwack spoiled by families, groups, and individuals last Christmas, is entering its second season for 2021.
“Exciting things are happening over here with Chilliwack Adopt-A-Senior!” according to organizers in a Sept. 30 update.
There is already a bit of a buzz being generated.

“We cannot wait to see this amazing community come together once again to make a difference in our seniors’ lives.”
The adoption idea was dreamed up by Chilliwack resident Crystal Holek “to help spread some happiness” to isolated Chilliwack seniors during the first Christmas season of the pandemic.
The whole idea just struck the right chord in people.
Hundreds signed up to adopt a lonely elder and custom shop for them based on a questionnaire they filled out about their hobbies and tastes. It’s not just about the gifts, though. Folks often personalized their packages with little notes, photos or crafts.
“This is about showing our seniors we care about them, and reminding them they’re not alone,” Holek said.
Registration opening will be announced soon through the Chilliwack Adopt-A-Senior Facebook or Instagram page.
