Chilliwack is looking bright this Christmas season.
Every night the city lights up with festive displays and the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board (CADREB) want folks to head on out and enjoy some of the many Christmassy homes around town.
Each year, CADREB complies a list of homes in Chilliwack where people go all out for the holiday season, spending countless hours decorating their houses and yards for folks to enjoy.
George Grober is one of those people.
“They call me Griswold,” Grober said.
He’s referring to the character Clark Griswold who fills every square foot of his house in Christmas lights in the 1989 movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
This year Grober spent 80 hours decorating his small one-storey house at 9365 Edward Street, located at the corner of Princess Avenue in downtown Chilliwack.
He’s been doing it for years and he’s always been impressed that no one has ever vandalized or stolen anything from his display.
“They respect it,” he said with a smile.
