The newest map of Chilliwack’s Cottonwood Centre leases shows two new restaurants being added later this year.

This follows what turned out to be an unpopular decision to close the food court in 2023, which made room for a still-unfinished BC Liquor Store.

The new restaurants are Opa! of Greece and Boardwalk Burgers, both in the location where Pennington’s was previously. They are slated to be added in October 2024, the same time as the already-announced Sephora. Both chain restaurants also have locations in Abbotsford.

They aren’t the only new leases that are on the new map, which is attributed to Warrington PCI Management.

A Boathouse location is also newly listed, with an opening date of August 2024. Other businesses listed still to open include a Fido location in July, and a Bodymods in November. A Snore MD sleep apnea clinic is listed, but no date is included on the map or on Snore MD’s website.

Notably, there are also two restaurants currently under construction in the mall. Chilli Wok is almost complete, as well as Big Orange. The map also shows some unfilled opportunities, including new spaces marked out at the west end of the mall, where the old Sears entrance was. Those spaces are 1,493 sq. ft. and 3,165 sq. ft.

There is also small, 612 sq. ft space near the back entrance that is available, and space (size obscured in map) beside Sephora where Northern Reflections was previously. That store has moved to a larger space closer to London Drugs.

There was public outcry in 2023 when Cottonwood Centre closed its food court, as there is now no central place for shoppers to sit for a meal or a coffee. There are now numerous places to eat on the property, however, including FreshSlice Pizza, Starbucks, Burger King, Church’s, Cora’s and Earl’s.
