Country-themed fundraiser brings in $68,000 for Chilliwack hospice

Hometown Hoedown for Hospice will fund grief, palliative care support at Chilliwack Hospice Society

An annual fundraiser last weekend brought in thousands of dollars for the Chilliwack Hospice Society.

A total of $68,000 was raised at the 11th Hometown Hoedown for Hospice on Saturday, April 6 at Evergreen Hall.

That night, Chilliwack Hospice Society supporters donned their hats and boots for a night of fundraising in cowboy style. The fundraiser featured a buffet by Smoke and Bones BBQ, silent and live auctions, and dancing to many popular songs from local band Cold Chain with special guest Trevor McDonald.

The money raised will help fund the grief and palliative care support the society provides the community free of charge.

“Event organizers would like to thank all those who attended or supported the 11th Annual Hometown Hoedown for Hospice through sponsorship, donations, and ticket sales for contributing to its success,” Desmond Devnich, marketing manager with Chilliwack Hospice Society, stated in an email.
