Dust off your boots and take part in an country-themed fundraiser in support of Chilliwack Hospice Society.
The 11th annual Hometown Hoedown for Hospice, an event that raises money for grief and palliative-care support programs, returns to Evergreen Hall on April 6.
The hoedown will feature a barbecue dinner, live music, auctions, and riding the always-popular mechanical bull.
“The Hometown Hoedown for Hospice sells out every year because of the incredible generosity of our community,” said Sue Knott, executive director. “We have many sponsors, donors, volunteers, and attendees to thank for its success.”
The event is presented by Kel-Mor Enterprises with dinner by Smoke and Bones BBQ. There’s also dancing to live music by local band Cold Chain, plus both a live and silent auction.
The online silent auction will open to the public on Sunday, March 31. Items donated by businesses in the community will include many family-friendly experiences, service packages, event tickets, and gift certificates. Bidding will continue until 10:30 p.m. on the night of the hoedown.
A signature fundraising event for Chilliwack Hospice Society, the hoedown raises funds to support the grief and palliative-care support programs and services the non-profit organization provides free of cost to children, youth, and adults in Chilliwack and the surrounding communities.
In 2023, the event raised more than $70,000 for Chilliwack Hospice Society. Organizers said they hope to meet or exceed that amount again this year.
The 11th annual Hometown Hoedown for Hospice is Saturday, April 6 from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Evergreen Hall in Chilliwack. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased in advance online at chilliwackhospice.org. Tickets will not be available at the door.
