The Valley Huskers have lost a running back to a B.C. Football Conference rival.

The Langley Rams tweeted out the news Monday afternoon that Keegan Vicklund has signed with the team, leaving Chilliwack after two seasons.

The Robert Bateman grad was the Huskers’ Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2017 when he ran for 209 yards on 86 carries.

But Vicklund struggled to improve his numbers as a sophomore. He rolled up more yards (222) on less carries (65) for an average of 3.4 yards per attempt, but no one was game-planning to stop the Husker ground game.

Chilliwack head coach Bob Reist said Vicklund’s defection was expected.

GWG grad Von Richardson is back for 2019 and will likely lead the backfield after rolling up 441 yards and a 4.5 yards-per-carry average as a rookie.
