Stingy goaltending helped the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds stretch their winning streak to four games.

The major midget hockey team received shut-out goaltending from Boston Bilous in the first game, a 4-0 victory, while in game two, Baxter Anderson scored in the third period to break a 1-1 tie and send the T-Birds to a 2-1 win.

The Thunderbirds were hosting the Thompson Blazers at the Abbotsford Recreation Centre in both games.

Jayden Genberg, Anderson, Justin Plett and Justin Hargrove had the Fraser Valley goals in game one while Jonathan Rees opened the scoring in game two.

Both Rees and Anderson finished with a goal and an assist in the contest while Chad Cromar was the winning goalie.

The victories moved the Thunderbirds (8-4-1-1) into a third-place tie in the BC Major Midget League standings ahead of a showdown with the first-place Cariboo Cougars (11-1-0-0) this weekend. Both games are at the ARC.
