The Chilliwack Chiefs split a pair of weekend games against Surrey last weekend as BCHL ‘extended training camp’ action continues.

SATURDAY, OCT 17
Playing the Eagles for the fifth time in October, the teams showed signs of being sick of seeing each other in Saturday’s match at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
The first period included three roughing minors, an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and two misconducts. In the second period, players were sent off for cross-checking (twice), tripping/slew footing (a double minor) and slashing, with referees Ryan O’Keefe and Megan Howes handing out four more misconducts.
The Eagles earned a 4-3 shootout win on the scoreboard.
After Kenny Riddett opened the scoring for the visitors 9:07 into period one, ex-Eagle Wyatt Schlaht got the Chiefs even at 18:34.
The teams traded goals in the second period, with Brody Gagno scoring for Chilliwack and Jimmy Darby replying for Surrey.
The teams traded goals again in the third period, with Holden Cardinal tallying for the Eagles and Frankie Carogioiello replying for the Chiefs.
Overtime solved nothing and the teams ended up in a five-round shootout.
Surrey goalie Thomas Scarfone thwarted Carogioiello, Schlaht, Kienan Draper, Ayrton Marino and Dawson Good.
Rookie Chilliwack goaltender Ethan Pearson made stops on Cardinal, Cole Galata, Tio D’Addario and Michael Abgrall before Gabe Schovanek snuck the winning puck past him.
The three stars were Gagno, Schovanek and Riddett.

SUNDAY, OCT 18
Five different Chiefs scored goals Sunday night as Chilliwack earned a 5-2 win over Surrey at the Chilliwack Coliseum.
The home team out-shot the visitors 41-31.
After Ray Fust (Chiefs) and Buddy Johnson (Eagles) traded first period goals, Chilliwack broke the game open with a three-goal middle frame.
Mission’s Abram Wiebe gave the Chiefs the lead 50 seconds into period two. Carogioiello made it 3-1 at 12:16 and Brody Gagno made it 4-1 at 19:37.
Tommy Lyons scored the final Chilliwack goal 6:24 into the final frame and Johnson wrapped up the scoring for Surrey at 18:18.
Chiefs goalie Mathieu Caron stopped 29 pucks while Surrey counterpart Max Prazma made 36 saves.
The three stars were Carogioiello (first), Johnson (second) and Connor Milburn (Chiefs, third).

WHAT’S NEXT?
Chilliwack finally sees someone else this weekend, but not before facing Surrey again.
The Eagles are back in town for a Friday nighter (7 p.m.) at the Coliseum.
The Chiefs hit the road the next night, for the first time this month, traveling to Coquitlam to take on the Express.
