The Chilliwack Lunachicks traveled to South Surrey Friday night for women’s soccer action, losing a close one to the Semiahmoo Supra.
Last year’s league finalists opened the scoring 22 minutes into the second half on a flukey strike.
Chilliwack keeper Lisa Hiemstra was unable to corral a loose through-ball, deflecting it to the side where a Semiahmoo striker was able to beat a Lunachick defender and tap it into the open net.
That was the only goal Semiahmoo required, playing airtight defense the rest of the way to earn the 1-0 win.
Andrea Northcott and Tamara Soellner were strong in the midfield for Chilliwack’s squad.
The Lunachicks host Surrey United on Sunday.
