Spartans rack up medals at regionals

Chilliwack's Spartan Swim Club claimed a medal haul at the 2013 Lower Mainland Regional Championships in Richmond.

Eighteen Chilliwack Spartan swimmers competed in a field of 450 at the 2013 Lower Mainland Regional Championships, held March 16-17 in Richmond.

Sean Deacon performed well in the 10-year-old boys division, grabbing gold in the 200m backstroke and 100m fly.

Deacon scored silver in the 200m individual medley and freestyle, adding bronze in the 100m freestyle. He finished fourth in the 400m freestyle.

In the same division, Calvin Dumont-Belanger placed seventh in the 100m fly.

In the 11-12 year old girls division, Anna Dumont-Belanger finished first in the 1500m freestyle and second in the 200m fly.

Kara Wismer was fourth in the 400m individual medley and eighth in both the 200m individual medley and breaststroke.

Four Spartans tore up the 13-and-over boys division.

Carson Loeppky won double-gold in the 50 and 200m breaststrokes, finishing fifth in the 200m individual medley, seventh in the 100m freestyle and eighth in the 200m freestyle.

Wyatt Hine won the 100m breaststroke, took silver in the 200m breaststroke and third in the 50m breaststroke. He finished fourth in the 50m fly.

Carlos Enciso won bronze in the 200m breaststroke and finished fifth in the 50m breaststroke. Aidan Braun placed fifth in the 200m breaststroke and sixth in the 200m backstroke.

In the 13-and-over girls division, Kila Hine was golden in the 100 and 200m flies, adding a fourth place finish in the 50m fly.

Erika Sang snagged silver in the 100m breaststroke, adding double-bronze in the 200m breaststroke and 50m fly.

Sang was fourth in the 100m freestyle and seventh in both the 50m breaststroke and freestyle.

Jordyn Hryciw battled to bronze in the 400m individual medley, placing fourth in both the 200m individual medley and 100m freestyle.
