Spartan medal march at Lower Mainland Regional swim meet

The Chilliwack Spartans made several podium appearances as they hosted the Lower Mainland meet at the Landing Leisure Centre.

As the Chilliwack Spartan Swim Club hosted Swim B.C.’s AA provincials two weekend ago, they also hosted the Lower Mainland Regional Championships.

Spartan swimmers combined for 11 podium finishes, including four gold medal wins.

JiXiang Li produced a first place finish in the 12-13 year old girl’s division, taking top spot in the 400 metre freestyle. Li added eighth place showings in the 200m breaststroke and individual medley.

The same division saw Kyra Langer score double silver in the 100 and 200m butterflies. She bagged bronze in the 200m IM and finished fifth in the 200m breaststroke.

Eden Grant dominated her backstroke events finishing first in the 200m, second in the 50m and third in the 100m.

The 11 and under girl’s group had Alexis Reid grabbing double gold with wins in the 100 and 200m backstrokes. She snagged silver in the 50m breaststroke, battled to bronze in the 200m IM and finished fourth in the 100m freestyle.

On the boy’s side, Erik Rexha just missed the podium with fourth place finishes in the 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke. He placed eighth in the 200m freestyle and ninth in the 100m freestyle and 200m IM.

In the 14 and over category, Zoey Jenkins finished fifth in the 50m breaststroke.
