Silver start to summer season

Chilliwack's bantam A baseball Cougars dazzled on the diamond, advancing to the finale of a tourney in Surrey last weekend.

The Chilliwack bantam A Cougars started the summer baseball season with silver, finishing second at last weekend’s Surrey Canadian All-Star Summer Kickoff Tournament.

The locals went 2-0-1 in round-robin play, blasting Surrey 14-5 and edging Ridge Meadows 6-4.

They battled the White Rock Tritons to an 8-8 draw.

Chilliwack needed 12 innings to dispatch the Ridge Meadows Royals in the semi-final.

In the Canada Day gold medal match, the Cougars fell 11-7 to the Surrey Angels.
