Nothing is written in stone, but the Sardis Falcons football program is anticipating there will be a full-fledged high school season in 2021.

A schedule has been released and the team begins formal practices Aug. 23.

New head coach Sukh Parmar said they are still waiting on 100 per cent approval from BC School Sports and he “hopes that comes real soon.”

After fielding a varsity (senior) squad in 2018 and 2019, the school plans to add a junior varsity team in 2021.

The varsity Falcons will play in a seven-team AAA Pacific division along with Earl Marriott (Surrey), Eric Hamber (Vancouver), Frank Hurt (Surrey), Handsworth (North Vancouver), Nanaimo District and Sullivan Heights (Surrey).

The junior varsity team will play in a five-team AAA Pacific division, minus Eric Hamber and Frank Hurt, which don’t have JV teams.

The senior team’s first regular season game is Sept. 24 against Nanaimo District while the JV team waits until Oct. 7 to take on Sullivan Heights.

The schedule is also out for the G.W. Graham Grizzlies, who will play in the AAA East division along with Centennial (Coquitlam), Abbotsford, Kelowna, Lord Tweedsmuir (Surrey), Mission, Terry Fox (Port Coquitlam) and W.J. Mouat (Abbotsford).

Their first action comes Sept. 3 with a home preseason game against Abbotsford’s Robert Bateman Timberwolves and they visit Kelowna in their regular season opener Sept. 25.

G.W. Graham will also field a JV squad in the AAA East, a six-team division that includes Abbotsford, Kelowna, Lord Tweedsmuir, Mission and W.J. Mouat.

G.W. Graham and Sardis have yet to meet on a football field since Sardis returned to action in 2018.
