A fine first season with the Thompson Rivers University basketball team has earned Tyus DeVries the school’s Newcomer of the Year award.
The Sardis secondary school grad appeared in 20 U-Sports games for the WolfPack, averaging 23.9 minutes per match.
De Vries averaged 6.5 points per game, shooting 41.9 per cent from the field and 41.3 per cent from three point range.
He hit on 73.9 per cent of his free throws and pulled down 3.9 rebounds per game.
